Candles lit in Latvia at the site of the demolished monument to Soviet soldiers-liberators

Residents of the Latvian city of Liepaja lit candles at the site of the recently demolished monument to Soviet soldiers-liberators.


The action was initiated by representatives of the Russian Union of Latvia, SputnikLive reports. The police tried to stop them, but to no avail.

The protesters also sang “Katyusha” to the police several times and refused to communicate with them in Latvian.
