The Moldovan authorities introduced a new gas tariff for the population – for household consumers it increased by 27.3 percent. This was stated at the meeting by Alexander Rusu, a member of the National Energy Regulatory Agency, RIA Novosti reports.
Rusu noted that the gas consumer tariff was increased on the basis of calculations presented earlier by Moldovagaz. The new measures will come into effect on 1 October.
“The cost of natural gas at exit points from low-pressure gas distribution networks for household consumers has increased from 21,296 to 27,103 lei (from $1,100 to $1,395. — Ed.),” he said.
It is noteworthy that the company “Moldovagaz” asked to increase tariffs by 31.5 percent – up to 1376 dollars per thousand cubic meters. According to the head of the company, Vadim Cheban, this is necessary to compensate for the losses of the company – Moldovagaz bought fuel for 1883 dollars in September, and the benefits provided by the government do not cover the accumulated tariff difference.
