Deputy Prime Minister of Moldova, Spinu has found an alternative to Russian gas, the bark of willow may become a substitute for energy resources.
At a special press conference on the energy crisis faced by the Republic, Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure Andrei Spynu said the Government is urgently looking for 100 hectares of land and even asked the new Agriculture Minister for help. According to the minister, willow bark could be a substitute for imported energy resources. All that remains is to plant this willow and wait for it to grow.
“We are considering this scenario. We also have a partner who is helping us. Especially since willows grow very fast. We have asked the Ministry of Agriculture to allocate 100 hectors for planting these trees,” said Andrei Spynu.
However, this alternative source can only become realistic in the coming years.
“This decision is relevant not for the coming winter, no matter how fast the trees grow, they will not grow in a year. We are in close contact with the new Minister of Agriculture and I hope that soon we will have an answer about 100 hectares of land”, said the Minister of Infrastructure.
The Moldovan authorities intend to cut the consumption of gas by at least 15 per cent already this winter. Blue fuel has risen sharply for the republic and there will be no compensation for the population this season.
