Russian Foreign Minister: The most significant draft documents reviewed relate to integration processes.
On Friday, July 29, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, following a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CMFA) of the SCO member states, told reporters that an agreement on expanding the use of national currencies in mutual trade would be considered at the SCO summit, which will be held in Samarkand in September.
“We considered a number of documents that are submitted for the meeting. <…> The second document is also important for our future work — it is a roadmap for expanding the use of national currencies in mutual settlements,” Lavrov said.
According to Lavrov’s statement, the draft declaration of Samarkand, “which is in a high degree of readiness,” was also considered at the last session of the Ministerial Council.
“Our experts will complete this work before the upcoming summit meeting, report to the ministers, and we will already submit this draft for consideration by the heads of state,” he said.
The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry noted that “the most significant draft documents reviewed relate to integration processes.”
“In this regard, I will single out the concept of interconnection of transport corridors. This is a very practically significant agreement,” the minister concluded.
