Four candidates advanced to the fourth round of the British Prime Minister’s election. Once again, former Finance Minister Rishi Sunak won the most votes. He was voted by 115 members of parliament.

Second place went to Penny Mordaunt, Undersecretary for International Trade and Britain’s first female Secretary of Defense. 82 parliamentarians did not vote for. Foreign Minister Liz Truss came in third with 71 votes. And the fourth place was left for the ex-Deputy Minister for Women and Equality Kemi Badenok. She was supported by 58 members of the British Parliament.

Thus, the head of the international committee of the House of Commons, Tom Tugendhat, does not get into the next round. Before him, 6 more candidates dropped out of the electoral race.

The next rounds of elections will continue until two main contenders remain. Of these, members of the Conservative Party of Britain, of which there are officially about 200,000, will elect a new prime minister by mail. The new prime minister will replace Boris Johnson, who was dismissed on July 7 after a series of scandals.

It is noteworthy that none of the remaining four candidates wants to take the retired Boris Johnson to their future team.
