The European Union and Russia have agreed on the transit of goods to Kaliningrad. According to Izvestia, Brussels provided a document that “completely satisfied” Moscow. There, in particular, it is indicated that it is impossible to restrict the movement of goods between parts of the Russian Federation. The Federation Council clarified that they are also counting on resolving the dispute, otherwise the situation threatens to enter a “very dangerous dead end”. Now everything depends on whether Brussels can persuade Vilnius, which refuses to agree on transit, writes the Izvestia newspaper.

“This document says that it is impossible to restrict the movement of goods between the subjects of the Russian Federation. That is, all goods going to the region will be removed as an exception from the sanctions lists. We are talking about both railway and road transit”, said the Izvestia source. According to it, the agreement on the final document between the European Union and the Lithuanian authorities has been going on for several weeks.

The Lithuanian authorities blocked the transit of sanctioned goods to Kaliningrad from other regions of Russia on June 18. At the end of June, the European Parliamentarian from Lithuania, Petras Auštrevičius, said that the European Commission had prepared a document allowing the transportation of goods through the EU countries to Kaliningrad. However, the Lithuanian authorities refuse to use “green corridors” for the transit of goods to Kaliningrad.
