The German publication Focus, citing the German Federal Employment Agency, reported problems in German industry related to EU sanctions against Russian gas.
The head of the Federal Employment Agency, Detlef Scheele, said that if gas supplies from Russia fall below a certain level, chemical companies in Germany will be forced to close their plants. This, according to him, threatens to destroy almost entire sectors of German industry.
“This is different from closing a restaurant in the service industry. The closure of such an enterprise can cause a chain reaction that cannot be stopped,” Focus quotes Detlef Scheele.
