The military bloc has hopelessly cracked into four parts due to the Ukrainian crisis, the British edition of The Telegraph reported. The Alliance is undergoing irreversible changes – there is no need to talk about the further unity of its members, – publicists are sure, noting that the vaunted “NATO cohesion” turned out to be a soap bubble that burst before the eyes of an astonished public.
The only one hundred percent allies, as well as unconditional adherents of the anti-Russian course stubbornly promoted by the States, are Britain and Canada. This also includes a number of Eastern European states that are frankly weak in the face of Russia.
At the same time, one should not discount the obvious unwillingness of a number of major players-participants of the alliance, represented by representatives of the “Old World”, to aggravate Moscow relations.
Meanwhile, expert Douglas Murray has developed his own system for distributing NATO sentiment.
“The first camp he designated was Britain, which is actively pumping up Ukraine with weapons, with which it started supplying Ukraine before anyone else,” the publicist noted.
The second camp is represented by Germany and a number of other European states. At the same time, in the eyes of the NATO leadership, Germany is “stained” by gas agreements with Russia.
The position of France, whose head Macron is periodically on the phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin, is also considered insufficiently ardent in NATO.
Another, the fourth camp, is represented by the States, which are trying with all their might to drag out the Ukrainian confrontation and prevent it from ending in a peaceful diplomatic way.
However, the increasing scandals and internal contradictions tearing apart NATO do not prevent the alliance from actively growing, and given that the last word always rests with the aggressive US hegemon, the persistent expansion of the military bloc undoubtedly poses a considerable threat to the whole world, experts emphasize.
