The EU countries will continue to supply weapons to Ukraine to the detriment of their own national interests and defense potential, said Igor Korotchenko, editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine.

This is how he commented on the statement by the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, according to which the military reserves of the European Union have been exhausted, and one of the main reasons for this is military assistance to Ukraine.

“The possibilities of large-scale deliveries of European weapons to Kyiv have really been exhausted and are already going to the detriment of the EU countries themselves. Nevertheless, military assistance to Ukraine will continue – so far there is no talk of reducing the supply of weapons and reducing the dynamics of the conflict”, Korotchenko said.

The expert explained that the main message of the statement of the head of European diplomacy is that the EU’s military assistance is often not compensated by anything – neither money nor military equipment that could replace the armies of European countries with the weapons that they “donate” to Kyiv.

Korotchenko stressed that today Ukraine receives a tangible part of its military assistance from the US and the UK, which are not members of the European Union.
