Budapest needs five years and additional funds to reorient itself to other supplies – Viktor Orban.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that the proposed EU embargo on Russian energy resources for Budapest is tantamount to an atomic bomb.
“The head of the European Commission ignores the fact that the countries of the European Union are in completely different conditions, and makes a proposal that ignores the individual parameters of the countries. We cannot accept this, because for Hungary it is equal to an atomic bomb”, the index.hu portal quotes him as saying.
According to Orban, Hungary needs five years and additional funds to reorient itself to other supplies, so the country returned the proposal of the European Commission for revision.
Earlier, Orban notified the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, of his refusal to support the sixth package of anti-Russian sanctions in its current form. According to him, the EU should accept new restrictions only when all member countries are ready for this, but for now Budapest cannot join the embargo on Russian oil.
