Unknown people have made an attempt on the life of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Their efforts were unsuccessful – the head of state was not injured.
This was reported by the Lebanese TV channel Al-Manar. According to his statement, Assad was attacked on his way to the mosque. There he was going to take part in the prayer for Eid el-Fiter.
Later, footage appeared in the Syrian media showing the president praying in a mosque. From this we can conclude that the attempt was unsuccessful.
