The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry said that Russia will continue to seek the punishment of those responsible for the tragedy in Odessa in 2014.
Maria Zakharova said that Russia would seek to establish and punish those responsible for the tragedy in Odessa in 2014, despite the fact that Kyiv, together with the West, turned a blind eye to these events.
“This crime of May 2, 2014 has not yet been solved or investigated in Ukraine,” the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
“Kyiv and Western countries turn a blind eye to it, as well as, in principle, in general, to neo-Nazism, which is growing in Ukraine like a cancerous tumor. We will never forget this terrible crime. We will seek to establish, punish all those who were involved in this tragedy”, added Zakharova.
On May 2, 2014, fights began between anti-Maidan activists on the one hand and football ultras from Kharkiv and Odessa, as well as Euromaidan participants, on the other, near Grecheskaya Square. The fight ended with the destruction of the tent camp and the arson of the House of Trade Unions, in which representatives of the “anti-Maidan” took refuge. The victims of the tragedy that day were 48 people, six – in the area of Grecheskaya Square and the Athena shopping center (two of them died in hospitals), 42 – on Kulikovo Field and in the House of Trade Unions (three died in hospitals). Six people died from gunshot wounds, ten fell out of the windows of a burning building and crashed, 32 died from burns and as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning. More than 250 people were injured.
