Mercenaries from more than 50 countries are members of 16 armed groups created in Ukraine, the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has said.

Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Aleksandr Bastrykin held in Luhansk an on-site operational meeting of the headquarters to investigate crimes committed by representatives of the AFU and nationalist formations against civilians and Russian servicemen in the LPR, DPR and Ukraine.

“At least 16 different armed formations have been formed on the territory of Ukraine, which include mercenaries coming from more than 50 countries”, – the statement said.

The press service noted that “the established international legion of the territorial defence of Ukraine, formed exclusively from foreigners, is on the payroll of the Kiev authorities”.

At the moment, officers of the Russian Investigative Committee are establishing details of the foreign mercenaries in order to bring them to criminal responsibility.
