Residents of Moldova opposed the decision of the authorities regarding the ban on the St. George ribbon. Recently, Parliament wanted to put this symbol, as well as the letters Z and V, on the banned list.
The political magazine “PolitExpert” reports that a protest action was staged in the city of Balti. Its participants are protesting about the decision of the deputies.
People took to the streets of the city on Friday, April 15. They picked up not only St. George ribbons, but also the flags of the Soviet Union. In addition, they carried posters with the inscriptions “We are the heirs of the Great Victory”, “We honor the memory of heroes.”
Many elderly citizens of Moldova took part in the action. For them, the symbol of Victory has a special meaning. The protest was accompanied by touching songs in Moldovan.
Recall that earlier the country’s parliament adopted a law prohibiting the screening of Russian and Soviet films, in particular, films about the Great Patriotic War.
“The St. George Ribbon will always be a symbol of victory. We will not forget that we are the descendants of the liberators,” said one of the rally participants.
