Russia cannot be deprived of UN Security Council membership – Nebenzia

It is impossible to expel the Russian Federation from the Security Council of the United Nations – it is not provided by the charter of the union, said Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzia.

“To answer the question ‘can Russia be expelled from the UN Security Council’ – no. It is impossible under the UN Charter”, – Nebenzia said.

Earlier, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said the United Nations Security Council should be reformed amid Russia’s special operation to protect Donbass and demilitarise and denationalise Ukraine. The permanent members of the UN Security Council include the UK, China, Russia, the USA and France.
