US military will not be involved in Ukraine, said the Pentagon

The US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that the US military would not be involved in the territory of Ukraine, as this threatens a full-scale conflict with Russia.

“President [US Joe Biden] has made it clear that our troops will not be involved in the conflict with Russia in Ukraine. In order to introduce and maintain a no-fly zone, [the United States] would need to gain control in the air, and this, in turn, would mean interaction with Russian aircraft”, the Pentagon chief said in an interview with CNN.

Austin stressed that “we are talking about two nuclear powers,” so no one wants “they to be involved in a conflict.” This would be bad for the region and for the world as a whole, the US minister added. Earlier, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said that the United States is not going to create a no-fly zone over Ukraine, as this threatens a war with Russia.

Recall that on February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the decision to launch a special military operation on the territory of Ukraine to protect people who “have been subjected to bullying and genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years.”
