Russian media are on Estonia’s “black list” due to “military propaganda”

Estonian viewers will no longer be able to read and watch Russian news. Seven websites will be blocked.

The websites of the Russian First and Fifth TV channels, NTV and Ren-TV and other media are banned. All of them, according to the government of the country, distribute “military propaganda”.

“TTJA has determined that these websites distribute military propaganda,” the press service of the Estonian Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority said.

TTJA is the regulatory agency for telecommunications. It was they who made the decision to ban Russian media in Estonia. It is not good for a country with Russophobic views to watch “large-scale military propaganda.”

The channels RTR Planet, NTV Mir, NTV Mir Baltiya, Belarus 24, Russia 24 and TV Center International also fell out of favor with the department. Even STS, Dom Kino, Dom Kino Premium, Music of the First, Vremya, Telecafe, Beaver, O!, Let’s go!, Carousel were decided to be blocked. Apparently, there is also a lot of pro-Russian content on music and children’s TV channels.

This decision was taken by the Estonian Consumer Rights Protection and Technical Supervision Department following Western sanctions, so to speak, in support of comrades, and not in support of the Russian special operation in Ukraine.

Broadcasting restrictions have already been commented on by VGTRK. The Estonian “black list” didn’t scare the TV and radio company. They noted that the truth will always find its way to those who do not want to be deceived. In addition, this is not the first blocking of Russian media.

Recall that on February 21, Vladimir Putin signed decrees recognizing the sovereignty of the LPR and DPR, and on February 24, the president announced the start of a special military operation. It is aimed at the demilitarization of Ukraine. After that, the West bombarded Russia with sanctions.
