Expert voiced three directions of a possible Ukrainian attack on Donbas

The Ukrainian army may use deceptive maneuvers to divert the forces of Donbass defenders from the direction of the main strike, military expert Alexei Leonkov said in a commentary to the news agency Krasnaya Vesna

According to Leonkov, three directions of a possible Ukrainian attack have always been discussed.

“The first is the Mariupol direction: there is the shortest distance from the line of contact to the Russian border. There was information that seven brigades were concentrated there”, –  Leonkov explained.

In addition, there is a direction near Donetsk, between Luhansk and Donetsk. According to the military expert, about ten brigades are concentrated in this area.

“The figures are approximate. Because of the mobility of the brigades of the Ukrainian army, they can build up the number of troops in any place”, –  Leonkov noted.

In his opinion, the Ukrainian army will now try to deceive the Donbas military in order to divert the forces of the republic’s defenders from the real direction of the Ukrainian troops’ breakthrough. Leonkov explained that this tactic is similar to that used, for example, by Azerbaijan against Nagorny Karabakh.

Artillery will be used to give the impression that they are about to break through, remote demining systems will be used and so on, the expert explained.

“Everything will be done. And where the real breakthrough will happen – only the Ukrainian headquarters knows about it, and their handlers know about it”, –  Leonkov said, adding that the probability that the Ukrainian army will go for a breakthrough is extremely high.
