Leonid Slutsky, head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, said that the actions of the US embassy in Kiev look like a “cheap drama.”
U.S. State Department spokesman Ned Price said the acting U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Ukraine Christina Kvin and most of the U.S. embassy staff are currently in Lviv. It is noteworthy that Price did not specify exactly what proportion of the embassy staff remained in Ukraine.
According to Slutsky, one gets the impression that Washington “temporarily” stopped considering Kiev the capital of Ukraine, and everything that happens looks like a “cheap drama.” The United States has reached the apogee of forcing, trying to maintain the viability of its own myth about the “Russian threat”, the politician noted in his Telegram channel.
“We are seeing another example of the real attitude of the United States towards its “allies” – following the diplomats from the country, the last entrepreneurs and investors are running in fear of what is not clear. Despite all the assurances of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine that there is no threat,” Slutsky wrote.
According to him, the maintenance of tension by the American administration and the creation of imaginary reasons for the imposition of anti-Russian sanctions are much more important to Washington than the well-being of the Ukrainian people.
“And yes, only the lazy now did not remember the American masterpiece “Krickery or the tail wags the dog.” Such is the political creativity in response to Russian initiatives on security guarantees,” the deputy concluded.
