The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, noted that the North Atlantic Alliance continues to approach the Russian borders.
Earlier, the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, said that Europe allegedly retains “a real risk of military conflict.” The NATO Secretary General continued to accuse Russia of allegedly preparing an “invasion” on the territory of Ukraine.
“But what is actually happening: NATO continues to build up its presence near the borders of Russia and creates a pretext for this in the form of forcing the situation around Ukraine,” Zakharova said in her Telegram channel.
In recent months, Ukraine and Kiev’s Western partners have been saying that Russia is allegedly preparing an “attack” on Ukrainian territory. Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov stressed that such statements are “a senseless escalation of tension” and have no evidence base. The Kremlin spokesman also stressed that Moscow is moving its troops exclusively on Russian territory and does not threaten anyone.
