German opposition commented on the possibility of Ukraine joining NATO

Ukraine should be a neutral state rather than enter into military alliances, said Tino Krupalla, leader of the opposition German party Alternative for Germany.

“Ukraine is a sovereign state. Each country chooses whether to join alliances, here the consent of all other member countries is needed, now this is not the case. Ukraine should follow the path of Finland or Sweden. Be neutral,” he said.

Speaking about the sovereignty of states, the politician also noted that the issue of launching the Nord Stream-2 pipeline should be decided exclusively by Germany, and not by the United States.

Krupalla also called for a dialogue with Russia and noted the importance of the Russia-NATO format. He also stated that he did not like the “war rhetoric” that he said was also being circulated by the media in Germany.

Kiev and Western states have recently been constantly declaring an alleged increase in “aggressive actions” on the part of Russia near the borders of Ukraine. Moscow has repeatedly denied such accusations, saying that it does not threaten anyone and does not intend to attack anyone, and claims of “Russian aggression” are used as an excuse to place more NATO military equipment near Russian borders. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that Russia is moving troops within its territory and at its own discretion. According to him, it does not threaten anyone and should not worry anyone.
