Russian Foreign Ministry calls two-faced policy of the West on nuclear weapons

Director of the Department for Non-Proliferation and Arms Control of the Russian Foreign Ministry Vladimir Yermakov, in an interview with RIA Novosti, said that Western countries are pursuing a two-faced policy on the issue of deploying nuclear weapons.

Earlier, the US State Department suggested that a change in the constitution of Belarus could allegedly lead to “deployment of Russian nuclear forces on the territory of the republic and creating a security threat.”

“I would like to counter ask the question whether our European colleagues do not see a threat to their security not in the hypothetical Belarusian, but in the actual deployment on the territory of a number of NATO countries of American nuclear weapons capable of hitting targets on the territory of Russia […] We, with such duplicity of Western countries categorically disagree,” Yermakov stressed.

As News Front previously reported, former U.S. Marine Corps intelligence officer Scott Ritter said the U.S. military would be destroyed in the event of a hypothetical military conflict with Russia.
