Macron plans to offer Putin “a way to de-escalate” the situation in Ukraine

French President Emmanuel Macron is set to propose a “path to de-escalation” of the crisis in Ukraine during an upcoming phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the France Press agency reported, citing the Elysee Palace

“The president will propose a path to de-escalation to his Russian counterpart during a telephone conversation to be held in the coming days”, –  the report said.

A French presidential administration source confirmed that a meeting of the Normandy format political advisers involving representatives from France, Germany, Russia and Ukraine is scheduled for 26 January in Paris, according to the statement.
