More and more branches of Ukrainian industry are suffering because of the cost of gas. Now the catastrophe is brewing at the enterprises that are engaged in the manufacture of glass products.
The problem was discussed at the Association of Glass Industry Enterprises “Glass of Ukraine”. This is reported by the publication RT, referring to the official website of the organization.
The statement says that already three enterprises have completely stopped their work. Those that still hold out were forced to move into the stage of technological downtime. In this way, they try to prevent a complete shutdown of the furnaces. If this happens, it will be very difficult to start them again.
Representatives of the association explained that the rise in gas prices led to the catastrophe. The cost of fuel is up to 50% of the cost of production. Considering the general state of the Ukrainian economy and purchasing power, an increase in the price of it will lead to the fact that they will stop buying it altogether. As a result, production was in a hopeless situation.
In addition, the situation is aggravated by the export of glass products from abroad. In some countries, the cost of gas is several times lower and this has a positive effect on the prices of products. As a result, the domestic manufacturer will not be able to compete with them.
