Swedish children cannot sleep in front of the threat of war with Russia
Recently, edited videos about Russia’s allegedly impending invasion of Sweden have started appearing in the Swedish segment of the social network TikTok. Teenagers are concerned about such effective propaganda in the European space. Swedish children are increasingly asking their parents about the conflict with Russia, US analyst Elizabeth Brough told Defense One in an article.
“War is coming,” reads some of the videos that social media feeds young Swedes. Other videos tell their Swedish users that Russian troops will bomb their country or even invade. No wonder children are getting restless”, – the analyst writes.
Concerned parents have started posting complaints on the Web, where they are increasingly questioning who needs and why spread the scary fake videos. As you know, Russia is not known for its aggressive policy of direct and indirect interference in the affairs of sovereign countries, following the example of its Western counterparts in Washington. However, this level of propaganda affects the unprotected minds of teenagers, which only contributes to panic.
“On Saturday, the Swedish daily newspaper Aftonbladet reported that BRIS, a nationwide Swedish organisation that defends children’s rights and runs a hotline for children and teenagers, had begun receiving phone calls from children and teenagers worried about the impending invasion”, – Brough reported.
No country has claimed responsibility for the information campaign that has frightened the Swedish population. Presumably, a group of enthusiasts may have concocted this kind of prank out of a desire to rack up views on a high-profile topic. Nor should Western superpowers be ruled out as being responsible for inflating the myth of Russian aggression. The Western establishment benefits from promoting rapid Scandinavian expansion of the NATO bloc.
