US has entered a new Cold War with Russia – US congressman

The US and Russia are once again in a state of cold war, this statement was made on CNN by the top Republican on the US House Foreign Affairs Committee, Michael McCaul

“I think so, because I think Russian President Vladimir Putin has once again smelled weakness”, – the congressman said when asked by a reporter whether a new Cold War had begun.

The congressman opined that if the Russian leadership starts an “invasion” of Ukraine, “the time has already come” for it. According to him, the Russian authorities “want to restore the glory of the former Soviet empire” and now “Ukraine is Russia’s breadbasket”.

In the politician’s opinion, Washington is not doing enough to contain Moscow.

“I see some tough rhetoric, but not much action… You have to put things like sanctions on the table, you have to talk about selling more weapons, selling weapons to Ukraine”, –  McCaul added.
