Ukraine harasses Russian-speaking population – country’s opposition

The Ukrainian opposition party Opposition Platform – For Life believes that the switch of Russian-language print media to Ukrainian will result in discrimination and harassment of Russian-speaking citizens

The party believes that new norms of the “language law discriminating against the rights of Russian-speaking citizens and representatives of other national communities” are coming into force in Ukraine.

“This norm will make it unprofitable to publish mass media in Russian and impossible for Russian-speaking citizens of Ukraine to receive information in their native language”, –  the party said.

It became known yesterday that as of 16 January, a provision of the law on ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language as the state language in print media came into force in Ukraine.
