A bipartisan group of US senators intends to visit Ukraine on January 16. This is reported by Politico, citing its sources among congressmen.
“The visit will take place a few days after the upper house of the US Congress did not reach a consensus on the imposition of sanctions against the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline. It is expected that the senators will stay in Ukraine until Tuesday, January 18,” RIA Novosti reports.
At the moment, there is no information about possible meetings with representatives of the Ukrainian authorities. Earlier it was reported that the US Senate rejected a bill on a new package of sanctions against Nord Stream 2, proposed by Texas Republican Ted Cruz.
According to Gevorg Mirzayan, Associate Professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, another package of sanctions against the Russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline has become one of the instruments of pressure on US President Joe Biden.
