The US will give $200m in aid to Ukraine

According to media reports, the United States intends to send decommissioned naval equipment and a radar system to Ukraine

The Politico newspaper quoted Ukrainian and US officials as saying that America would supply Ukraine with radar systems and naval equipment worth $200 million taken from the Pentagon as part of its “covert assistance”. However, it is not specified when exactly the first deliveries will begin.

According to the paper, the financial assistance to Ukraine was approved as part of Biden’s authority to write off budget funds – the head of state may instruct the secretary of state to ask the defence secretary to send the Pentagon’s equipment to the country “in danger”. The administration would then notify Congress that a “contingency requires immediate military assistance to another country”.

Recall that in 2021, US President Joe Biden instructed the State Department to provide Ukraine with a $60 million military aid package from Pentagon funds.
