The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal intends to hold a telephone conversation with the American Republican Senator Ted Cruz, who is the author of the sanctions against the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline, in the coming days, Sheptun Telegram channel writes.
“The conversation will revolve around sanctions against the gas pipeline. We also learned that the representatives of Cruz notified Shmygal that the leader of the democratic majority Chuck Schumer and Senator Ted Cruz had previously agreed to put the issue of sanctions against the gas pipeline to a vote. It will take place in the coming days – until January 14”, writes the Telegram channel.
According to the authors of the Telegram channel, representatives of the senator told Shmygal that the administration of US President Joe Biden “is slowing down the process of agreeing on sanctions.” It is also noted that the representatives of Cruz allegedly demanded that Kiev declare in “the clearest terms that the inability to authorize Nord Stream 2 does not constrain Russia on the world stage.”
According to the expert of the American magazine Foreign Affairs Chris Miller, the hypothetical sanctions against the Russian gas pipeline Nord Stream 2 by the US administration will not harm the Russian economy.
