Thousands of people demonstrate in Brussels against coronavirus restrictions
Demonstrators demanded to abolish the covid certificate, which is required to enter various places.
Organisers said about 25,000 people took part in the rally, while police said the figure was closer to 5,000 – a significant drop in participation from the estimated 35,000 people who took part in the protest last November which turned violent.
The demonstration attracted a wide range of participants, from families with young children to EU politicians.
“We are asking for our rights and our freedom back,” said MEP Christian Terhes of the Group of European Conservatives and Reformists.
