A third of Americans do not recognize Biden’s victory in the elections, poll showed

About a third of voters in the United States (33%) consider the victory of President Joe Biden in the 2020 elections illegitimate, follows from a poll by the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.

According to him, 11% of respondents consider Biden’s victory “possibly illegitimate”, another 22% called it “unambiguously illegitimate.” At the same time, 71% of the polled Republicans do not recognize the election of Biden, and 4% of the Democrats.

The opposite opinion is shared by 58% of the respondents who consider his victory “unequivocally legitimate” (46%) or “most likely legitimate” (12%). This point of view is shared by the overwhelming majority of Democrats (91%) and less than a quarter of Republicans (21%). Another 9% of the respondents found it difficult to give an answer.

“Given that prominent Republican elected officials, conservative media figures and former President (Donald) Trump continue to question Biden’s victory, it should come as no surprise that 7 out of 10 Republicans, Conservatives and Trump voters view the 2020 election results with skepticism, if not outspokenness”, the researchers noted.

The survey was conducted on December 14-20, 2021, 1000 people took part in it. The margin of error was 3.1%
