Vice President of Iran says Iran is enriching uranium exclusively for industrial purposes

The Iranian authorities do not intend to exceed the uranium enrichment level of 60%, even if the United States does not lift the sanctions. Vice President of Iran, head of the Atomic Energy Organization Mohammad Eslami said this in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The vice president stressed that Iran will not exceed the 60% uranium enrichment level, even if the negotiations on the nuclear deal in Vienna are not crowned with success. According to him, all atomic activities of the country are carried out within the framework of agreements, statutes and regulations of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

“All our goals in terms of uranium enrichment are to meet our industrial, production needs, as well as the needs of our consumers for those goods that our country and our people need today,” Eslami said.

Earlier, the US State Department’s special envoy for Iran, Robert Malley, said that Washington would be forced to put pressure on the Iranian authorities if Tehran began to drag out negotiations in Vienna on the restoration of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on the Iranian nuclear program.
