The Al-Jamahiriya news agency reported that armed men stormed into the headquarters of the Government of National Unity (PNU) and the building of the Ministry of Defense on Wednesday evening.
The seizure of government buildings in Tripoli occurred just eight days before the December 24 presidential elections in Libya.
“Armed men broke into the headquarters of the Government of National Unity (PNU) and the building of the Ministry of Defense in Tripoli on Wednesday evening,” the agency said.
The media does not report any details about the belonging of the seized state institutions to any of the groups operating in Tripoli. According to the agency, a number of areas of the Libyan capital were de-energized.
