Europe is trying to squeeze Russia out of the gas market through political pressure on Gazprom and the new Nord Stream 2 pipeline. FBA Economics Today writes
Stable and friendly relations between Serbia and Russia allow Belgrade to buy gas at the lowest price in Europe, $270 per thousand cubic meters. Other European counterparts are trying to squeeze Russian partners from the gas market even in the conditions of shortage of blue fuel. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said this on the air of TV Pink.
“The Russians have a problem that they do not want to talk about. Namely, they are trying to politically squeeze them out, even though there is no gas in Europe. 70 billion cubic metres of gas is missing in Europe, 55 billion are envisaged for passing through Nord Stream 2″”, – Vucic stated.
The current agreement with Russia will allow Serbia to have a quiet heating season and to negotiate a new contract in the future, Dmitriy Peskov said earlier. The Serbian guarantor, for his part, stresses that Belgrade saves about 1 million euros a year thanks to the favorable agreement with Gazprom.
