The United States intends to hold a virtual summit in support of democracy. U.S. President Joe Biden invited leaders of 110 countries to the summit
He did not invite the heads of Russia, China and Turkey. This was reported by the Strana.ua news and analysis website, citing the press service of the US Department of State.
The event is scheduled for 9 and 10 December. Heads of government, civil society and the private sector will attend the event. The summit will focus on problems and opportunities faced by democracies.
All participants in the virtual meeting will be able to speak on three main topics: defending against authoritarianism, countering and combating corruption, and promoting respect for human rights.
It is even ironic that the US is hosting a summit on freedom, but only lets the “right” guests in. It is very American and fully in line with their understanding of the term “democracy”.
