Armenia and Azerbaijan announced shooting at the border

The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan announced the shelling of its positions by the armed forces of Armenia.

Earlier, the Armenian Defense Ministry reported about the indiscriminate fire of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces on the northern section of the border, now the situation is relatively calm.

“On November 17, from 17:54 to 22:52 (16.54-21.54 Moscow time), units of the armed forces of Armenia from positions in the direction of the villages of Chinarli and Mugandjig of the Shemsheddin region intermittently fired at positions of the Azerbaijani army stationed in the villages of Mundjuglu, Agbulag, Gosha, Kokhanabi and Esrik Jirdakhan of Tovuz region. The enemy was suppressed by return fire”, the statement of the Azerbaijani military department, quoted by RIA Novosti, says.

On Tuesday, November 16, Yerevan announced the invasion of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces into the country. According to the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, as a result of the escalation, one serviceman was killed, 13 were taken prisoner, communication with 24 soldiers was lost. It is also known that the Armenian side has lost two combat positions. In Baku, they announced the death of seven Azerbaijani soldiers, and ten more were wounded.

Later that day, Yerevan asked Moscow to protect the country’s territorial integrity. The Russian Defense Minister held a telephone conversation with his Armenian and Azerbaijani counterparts, after which the Russian military department announced a ceasefire.
