Political scientist Petrenko said that Ukrainians want to believe in real support from the West, which is unlikely
There is little chance that the British authorities will provide Ukraine with their special forces, so Kiev has taken “with euphoria” in vain the Mirror tabloid’s publication about London’s intention to provide Kiev with military support.
“If Britain provided Ukraine with its paratroopers and special forces, this would be a step to demonstrate that the Western world supports Ukraine in its confrontation with Russia”, – he said.
In the political scientist’s opinion, this will not happen. First, the information about Britain’s readiness to transfer 600 special troops to Ukraine was published by a tabloid, which does not always disseminate truthful information.
Secondly, London is responsible for its soldiers and understands that there is a great risk of their injury or death. Furthermore, in the seven years of the conflict in Donbas, Britain has not provided Ukraine with “any substantial military assistance,” the political analyst added.
Kiev can expect only diplomatic and technical support, Petrenko concluded.
We shall remind you that the British tabloid The Mirror earlier reported that the British authorities were ready to send up to 600 soldiers to Ukraine in case of “war with Russia”.
