Polish law enforcers disperse migrants with water cannons and tear gas

Migrants suddenly sprang to life on the border between Poland and Belarus and started breaking the fence and attacking border guards

Migrants at the Polish-Belarusian border have begun to break the fence and attack Polish border guards, throwing stones and bottles. In turn, the Polish law enforcement officers used tear gas, stun grenades and water cannons.

On the Polish side, security forces began to gather at the fence of the neutral zone and a water cannon was deployed. In addition, the border guards started throwing stun grenades at the refugees. The crowd of migrants was temporarily pushed back.
Earlier it was reported that there had been similar attempts of mass breakthrough of illegal migrants from the side of Belarus, but they were successfully suppressed. The law enforcers detained those who still crossed the border.
Angela Merkel also requested Russian President Vladimir Putin to influence the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to resolve the migration crisis.
In turn, the Russian leader said that this issue should be solved between Minsk and the European Union and that Russia is ready to help in every way possible to resolve the migration crisis on the border between Belarus and Poland, if it’s up to her.

“If we need any assistance of a military and technical nature or defence assistance today, as this is our common border, the Union State, you tell me. I will talk to the President of Russia and ask him to get involved and, if necessary, provide appropriate assistance without dragging Russia into this refugee crisis. Because you can see that the collective West is shifting all responsibility to Russia, which has nothing to do with it yet”, –  Lukashenko said.

The Belarusian president also added that today he plans to talk to his Russian counterpart about the migration crisis and he does not exclude that he will ask him for his assistance.
