Rallies continue in Italy against the introduction of compulsory COVID-19 vaccination certificates. Italian police have already charged 11 protesters in Milan, with a further 115 protesters tentatively identified as the local prosecutor’s office launches an investigation into the protests.
Also in Trieste, it is reported that police have opened investigations into 18 citizens for their participation in rallies against green passports.
The charges being brought include holding an uncoordinated demonstration that interferes with public services, violence against private individuals, resisting officials in execution, disobeying orders of the judiciary and “vilifying” the country, its constitutional institutions and the armed forces.
“We must never let our guard down in the face of the danger that small groups of extremists could obstruct the peaceful conduct of various forms of protest for the sole purpose of causing unrest,” said Luciana Lamorghese, Italy’s interior minister.
It should be reminded that since 15 October in Italy one can be at work only after presenting a certificate of vaccination issued not more than 6 months ago. And these are the toughest anti-vaccination sanctions among those in force in Europe.
