Tokyo is seriously concerned that South Korea and the DPRK are thinking about concluding peace and formally ending the Korean War.
South Korean leader Moon Jae-in voiced such an idea, according to the EADaily portal. However, the Japanese side is not at all happy that calm can come to the Korean Peninsula.
Japan believes that such a development of events will weaken its position in solving the problem of citizens abducted by the DPRK intelligence service, as well as facilitate the further development of Pyongyang’s nuclear missile program. She has already managed to complain about this to the “American partners”. It is worth noting that Washington has not yet decided on its point of view on this issue.
Moon Jae In spoke about ending the Korean War during his speech at the 76th session of the UN General Assembly. It took place in New York on September 21st. The active phase of the conflict ended in 1953 with the conclusion of an armistice. Formally, however, it continues to this day.
