Officials of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the World Health Organization (WHO) do not want to notice the successes of the Russian vaccine against COVID-19, said Alexander Gintsburg, director of the Gamaleya Centre
“The vaccination campaign has shown that Sputnik V does a brilliant job of protecting the body against a wide range of coronavirus strains. However, EMA and partly WHO officials do not want to see this”, – the centre’s head told the Vechernyaya Moskva newspaper.
According to Gintsburg, there are significant differences in Russian and European legislation, which also caused delays in approving the drug. Recall that the Russian vaccine against coronavirus infection Sputnik V is registered in 70 countries with a total population of 4 billion people.
The drug has still not been authorised by the EMA, which would allow Sputnik V to immunise the population of the European Union. Against this background vaccination tourism has become popular among Europeans: people come to Moscow to be vaccinated with the Russian product.
