Moscow is not working with Washington on any options for the US presence in Central Asia, Zamir Kabulov, Russian special envoy for Afghanistan, head of the second department of Asia of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“Nothing of the kind, these are speculations that it is not clear who is spreading. I do not know anything about this,” Kabulov said, answering the relevant question.
Earlier, a number of media outlets reported that Moscow and Washington, during the visit of US Undersecretary of State Victoria Nuland to Russia, discussed options for the presence of the US military in Central Asia after leaving Afghanistan and allegedly intend to further work on this issue.
Nuland visited Russia on October 11-13 and held meetings with Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration Dmitry Kozak, and Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov.
