Germany approves tighter controls on Polish-Belarusian border

Head of the Federal Ministry of the Interior Horst Seehofer expressed support for the decision of the Polish authorities to build a fence on the border with Belarus, reports edition Build

According to him, eight police units have been sent to reinforce the officers, controlling the green areas in the areas bordering Poland.

The German minister stressed that control of the border line along the green areas will be strengthened if necessary.

“In the spirit of the European idea, I am convinced that we must know who is coming to us. It is quite legitimate that we protect the external border in such a way that it cannot be crossed unnoticed”, –  the politician commented to Bild.

According to Seehofer, border control on the border with Austria will be prolonged for another six months and Germany has notified Brussels.
