French President Emmanuel Macron has had a telephone conversation with the head of the United States of America, Joe Biden
This was reported by the White House. The two leaders discussed bilateral cooperation.
In addition, they drew attention to the situation on the African continent. In particular, they talked about the Sahel region, where many terrorist groups are concentrated. Macron and Biden also raised the topic of cooperation in the Pacific region and the strengthening of defence systems in Europe.
The last time the presidents spoke after the scandal amid the creation of the new AUKUS bloc. Australia, which is part of it, rejected a submarine-building contract with France and instead accepted an American one. Biden and Macron discussed the problem and its consequences. The conflict was eventually resolved.
The heads of state also announced a meeting. It may take place in the Italian capital, Rome. France and the USA are planning a summit between Macron and Biden in the coming days and will meet in time for the end of October.
