US Navy officer detained for selling military secrets

Back in April 2020, he tried to contact a foreign state, offering to transfer information about the power plants of nuclear submarines of the US Navy for a fee. He was contacted by an FBI employee who was carrying out an undercover assignment and was in the role of a representative of another country.

According to the portal “Constantinople”, in West Virginia (USA), 42-year-old Jonathan Toebi, an employee of the US Department of the Navy, was arrested with his wife. He is accused of transferring classified information about nuclear submarines to an unnamed foreign state.

“With the help of his wife, Toebi twice transferred secret information in exchange for $100 thousand in cryptocurrency. When trying to contact a foreign state for the third time, he was detained”, the publication says.

According to the charges brought against them, the spouses face a long sentence, up to life imprisonment, and a fine of $ 100 thousand.
