The North Atlantic Alliance is ready to start a dialogue with Moscow and hold a meeting of the Russia-NATO Council (NRC), the alliance’s Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has said, Economy Today reports
Stoltenberg had earlier discussed the issue with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, but no decision was made then on a new NRC meeting, but the North Atlantic Alliance intends to continue work in this direction.
“We are ready to have a meaningful dialogue with Russia. We are ready to hold a meeting of the NATO-Russia Council”, – Stoltenberg said.
During his speech at Georgetown University, the NATO Secretary General said that the North Atlantic Alliance should begin to establish a dialogue with Moscow in order to prevent a new Cold War. According to Stoltenberg, the level of tension between the West and Russia has reached a historical maximum and needs to be defused.
