Ukraine has stopped the transit of Russian gas to Hungary

The transit of Russian natural gas through the territory of Ukraine to Hungary has been suspended since Friday, October 1. This is stated in the message of the company “Operator GTS of Ukraine”, reports TASS.

“On October 1, 2021, with the beginning of a new gas day (07:00), the transit of natural gas through the territory of Ukraine in the direction of Hungary was stopped,” the message says.

Now gas is now going to Hungary via the Turkish Stream. The drought in the Ukrainian GTS is increasing. The consequences are clear – a shortage of gas in Ukraine itself and difficulties in maintaining the GTS in a standard state. It is very old and needs a huge amount of so-called “technical gas” to maintain the required pressure.

Journalists of News Front attribute the termination of gas transit to the fact that last week Hungary agreed with Russia on the supply of gas for the next 15 years, bypassing Ukraine.
