According to RIA Novosti, the deputy head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces, General John Hyten, spoke about the possible consequences of an armed conflict with Russia and China
The general noted that in the past, despite many hotspots in the world, for example, the US had never engaged in an open confrontation with the Soviet Union.
“As far as the great powers are concerned, our goal should be never to have a war with China, never to have a war with Russia, because that would be a terrible day for the planet, a terrible day for our countries. It will destroy the world, it will destroy the world economy”, – Hyten said on a Brookings Institution podcast.
The American general stressed that the United States and Russia have “a fundamental common goal: never to start a war with each other, because a war with nuclear weapons is very bad.”
