Kiev politicians hold a grudge against Baltic politicians for their doubts about Ukraine’s European future
This is reported by Baltnews, citing the words of political analyst Alexander Okhrimenko. In particular, the case concerns Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid.
She said that Ukraine will not be able to become part of the European Union or NATO in the next few years. The authorities deny these statements, but the country’s population is well aware that the “non-independent country” will not meet the standards required for EU membership for a long time to come.
“In Ukraine, joining the European Union is nothing more than a ‘What about talk? Everyone understands that it won’t happen quickly, and it’s no surprise that Ukraine won’t join the EU anytime soon. But politicians love to speculate on this topic. It is fashionable in Ukraine to talk about the EU, but if you tell Ukrainians that they will have to pay taxes like in the EU, of course they will be against it”, – Okhrimenko said.
Ukrainians, on their part, do not understand at all what the EU is and why Ukraine needs it. But they hold a grudge against the Baltics, because they do not support the “European dream”.
